I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 1993 with a degree in Pure Mathematics.

Fountain penIn 1993 I joined a small private law firm and trained as Patent Attorney. I worked in this private practice for seven years, carrying out a wide variety of work relating to patents, designs, copyright and trade marks. The technical areas in which I worked were predominantly mechanical engineering and electronics.

In 2001 I moved to my second job as a Patent Attorney for Philips Electronics UK. My principal role was the drafting of patent applications in software and systems, display and consumer electronics technologies. I was also involved in commercial activities such as licensing and detection of infringement.

Since 2004 I have been self-employed as a Patent Attorney with a mixed portfolio of clients including multinational companies, technology start-ups and private individuals.
